Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Team Lead to join our Housing Shelter team at Capital City Centre. As a Team Lead, you will provide leadership and support to both staff and residents, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our marginalized population.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership and support to staff and residents, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
  2. Model important work habits and set the tone for each shift.
  3. Advocate for residents, resolve difficult or sensitive issues, and respond to medical emergencies.
  4. Ensure incidents are handled in a supportive manner and de-escalate appropriately.
  5. Perform wellness checks, assist with resident support plan development, and deliver services in collaboration with the support team.
  6. Assist with laundry, maintain on-site laundry rooms, and support residents with developing independent life skills.
  7. Utilize de-escalation skills to mitigate challenging situations and maintain a safe and calm environment.
  8. Respond to medical emergencies, including overdoses, and provide non-emergency first aid.
  9. Liaise with partner agencies and other professionals/support teams.
  10. Oversee the daily functioning of the shelter/housing site, maintaining safety for all residents and staff.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in a related human, social services field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Working Conditions:

Shifts: Full-time, three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week), Thur/Fri/Sat (Days 7am-7pm)

Compensation: $30.75 to $35.29 per hour

Benefits: Vacation accrued at a rate of 6%. Eligible for a 100% employer-paid comprehensive benefits plan, including health and dental coverage, after completion of probationary period.
