Job Description:
The Associate Plate Structures Designer position involves utilizing 2D and/or 3D CAD skills, CB&I engineering and drafting templates, and tools to produce design deliverables including drawings and bills of material for plate structures and associated foundations, structural, and piping related to CB&I Storage Solutions' products and services. The role requires working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment where speed and accuracy are essential. As capabilities improve over time, the level of complexity of assignments and expectations for working independently with less supervision will increase. This role reports directly to the Project Engineer and frequently interacts with other Plate Structures Designers, Plate Structures Engineers, and Managers.
Responsibilities:
- • Produce accurate detail drawings for customer approval, fabrication, and/or construction per applicable design code, company standards, and customer drawings and specifications.• Ensure drawing details are safe for field erection and use, considering constructability.• Compare detail drawings and bills of material to as-sold estimate and inform the project team of discrepancies.• Run programs to generate detail drawings and bills of material.• Effectively utilize document management systems and collaboration tools.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- • No prior experience required.
• A high school diploma and at least one year of post-high school education or equivalent experience.
• A 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD using platforms such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of steel detailing practices and standard industry conventions.
• Familiarity with geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs, and basic bills of material.
• Developing verbal and written communication skills.
