Job Summary:

BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team in Peterborough, Ontario. As a key member of our Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group, you will be responsible for supporting the technical direction of our projects and ensuring seamless technical interfacing with internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and manage system-level design requirements using formal management tools.
  • Develop and manage interfaces and scope between discipline-specific design areas.
  • Prepare system-level design documentation and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Conduct process-level and component-level design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in conjunction with the design team.
  • Support project-level testing and commissioning, and ensure defect-free designs.
  • Lead by example, ensuring compliance with processes, industry codes, and standards, and quality systems.
  • Support process change through process enhancement and technology introduction to achieve world-class product development and deployment.
  • Interact with external customers, subcontractors, and cross-functional internal teams to ensure market alignment and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • B.A.Sc. in Engineering.
  • Holds or working towards a current PEO license.
  • Typically requires 3 years' experience in design engineering in Nuclear, Aerospace, Transportation, or other highly regulated and process-based design.
  • Demonstrated ability to support leadership on engineering projects over their complete EPC life cycles with little support.
  • Exposure to a broad range of interdisciplinary departments, including mechanical, I&C, software design, and manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, understandable by a diverse audience.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, outstanding analytical abilities, developing leadership skills, and the ability to work in a team.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with IBM DOORS.
  • Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
  • Familiarity with CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
