Our team is dedicated to providing innovative solutions in the nuclear energy sector, contributing to the design, manufacturing, and servicing of critical components and systems for the CANDU nuclear power industry.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to enhance our engineering capabilities. The role will focus on the integration and collaboration across various engineering disciplines, including Instrumentation & Control, Software, and Mechanical Engineering. The Systems Engineering team is responsible for the overall design and functionality of Fuel Handling systems, medical isotope delivery systems, and remote operation tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage system-level design specifications using formal management methodologies.
  • Establish and oversee interfaces and scopes between specialized design areas (mechanical, I&C, and software).
  • Generate comprehensive system-level design documentation.
  • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) at both process and component levels in collaboration with the design team.
  • Assist in project-level testing and commissioning activities.
  • Contribute to project deliverables, including evaluations, reports, and assessments.
  • Ensure engineering excellence and effective management of design activities, meeting project timelines and budgets.
  • Lead by example to ensure compliance with internal processes, industry standards, and quality systems.
  • Facilitate process improvements and technology integration to enhance product development.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure alignment with market needs.
  • Support proposal development and technical presentations to clients.
  • Identify project risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, communicating effectively with leadership.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are upheld throughout all project activities.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for client and stakeholder engagements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Current or in-progress PEO license is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering within regulated industries such as Nuclear, Aerospace, or Transportation.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering projects through their entire lifecycle with minimal oversight.
  • Familiarity with interdisciplinary activities including systems design, requirements development, and testing.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
  • Willingness to work remotely on short-term assignments as needed.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with IBM DOORS software.
  • Knowledge of the CANDU Nuclear Industry.
  • Understanding of CSA Nuclear Codes and Standards.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes and Standards.
