Job Summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our Commercial Risk Governance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of major projects and ensuring that our commercial risk management practices are aligned with our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and other legal documentation to ensure compliance with our commercial risk management policies and procedures.
  • Support project teams in identifying and managing risks associated with major projects, and provide guidance on commercial risk management best practices.
  • Assist in the development and review of formal project documentation, including notices and responses to claims and disputes.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Commercial Risk Governance to review and develop resources, templates, and reference materials to support commercial risk management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project teams by providing expert legal advice and support to ensure the successful delivery of major projects.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in commercial law, with a focus on alternative project delivery (APD) and commercial risk management.
  • Strong drafting skills and ability to negotiate complex contracts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Relevant experience in the construction or infrastructure industry, with a focus on major projects.
