About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our Major Projects team at Stantec Consulting International Ltd. As a key member of our Commercial Risk Governance group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts and other legal documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Risk Management: Support project teams in identifying and managing risks to proactively mitigate potential issues and ensure project success.
  • Project Documentation: Assist in the development and review of formal project documentation, such as notices and responses to claims and disputes.
  • Resource Development: Support the Director of Commercial Risk Governance in reviewing and developing resources, templates, and reference materials to enhance project delivery.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with project teams by demonstrating a deep understanding of Stantec's business and promoting risk management best practices.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Possess a Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree and be admitted to the bar in the United States or Canada. 3 to 5 years' experience in a related field, with relevant alternative project delivery (APD) experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Proactive, collaborative attitude; strong drafting skills; highly developed business sense; excellent communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
