Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Auditor, SOX Compliance Specialist to join our team at Spirit Omega Inc. in Calgary, AB. As a key member of our SOX Compliance and Advisory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness of our internal controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and execution of our SOX program, including risk assessments and control testing.
  • Test and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of our internal controls, including financial processes and ELC and DC&CP controls.
  • Identify and report control exceptions, deficiencies, and improvement opportunities to senior management and process owners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and optimize business processes and controls.
  • Interact with external auditors and respond to their requests, ensuring timely compliance with regulatory requirements.
Deliverables
  • Planning activities, including risk assessments and information requests.
  • Testing and evaluation of internal controls, including narratives, walkthrough documentation, and test files.
  • Advisory services, including control assessments, walkthroughs, and updated narratives.
  • ELC and DC&CP testing and evaluation.
Requirements
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
  • Business acumen and ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make routine decisions without close supervision.
  • Highly organized with strong planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must have over 2-3 years of experience in a public accounting firm or in a group dedicated to audit, accounting, or finance related activities.
  • Undergraduate degree with professional accounting designation (CA/CPA) or working towards designation within completion targeted for the next 1-2 years.
