About the Role

Interior Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) programs and resources to support organizational targets and the implementation/sustainability of the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Provide technical advice, guidance, and leadership by interpreting regulations, collective agreements, directives, and standards, including the application of safety procedures and standards of practice, appropriate intervention, and/or preventative measures.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to key partners who are change sponsors within the organization to action the organization's strategic priorities related to health and safety.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures relating to OHS issues by interpreting WorkSafeBC (WSBC) and other legislated requirements, researching current literature, analyzing statistics, and collaborating with other centers of expertise.
  • Develop tools, guidelines, and resources to support site and department-based implementation of corporate OHS program policies and procedures.
