Job Summary:
The School District #62 (Sooke) is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious individual to fill the role of Crossing Guard On-Call. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of students at school crosswalks, managing behaviors of children and adults, and reporting any incidents or concerns to the school administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor students before, during, or after school to ensure the school grounds are clear and all students leave the property.
- Complete discipline reports to the school administration in a timely manner.
- Dispense first aid supplies as needed.
- Report traffic violations and other community behavior concerns to the school administration.
- Perform other assigned duties within the scope of the job description.
Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Up to one month of experience or training with an experienced crossing guard.
- Patience and care for students, with a demonstrated aptitude for the work.
- Ability to work well with other adults and communicate effectively.
- Self-assurance and a well-modulated voice.
- Appreciation of the confidential nature of student, parent, and teacher information.
- Completion of the Adult School Crossing Guard Workshop Booklet.
Terms of Employment:
Ten months, with a starting hourly rate of $29 per hour as per the collective agreement.
