PhD Position in Large-Scale Hydrology

We are pleased to offer a fully-funded PhD position in Large-Scale Hydrology at the University of Waterloo, Department of Earth and Environmental Science.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for motivated candidates eager to contribute to advancing hydrological science on a large spatial scale using both physically based as well as data-driven models.

About the Opportunity

As a researcher in this field, you will have the chance to work with cutting-edge techniques and technologies, collaborating with esteemed faculty members and industry partners.

  • The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive stipend, estimated to be around $30,000 CAD per annum, in addition to tuition fees being waived.
  • A one-time relocation allowance will also be provided to support the move to Waterloo, Ontario.

The research will focus on developing novel approaches to understanding complex hydrological systems, leveraging both theoretical and empirical methods. Your contributions will help shape the future of hydrology and inform evidence-based decision-making.

You will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced computational resources and specialized equipment. This project offers a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world applicability.

Your Background and Skills

To be considered for this role, you should possess a strong background in hydrology, earth sciences, or a related field. Experience with numerical modeling, programming languages (e.g., Python), and statistical analysis is highly desirable.

Solid communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds are essential. A strong publication record and potential for securing external funding would be an asset.
