Lead Planner

At AtkinsRéalis, we are seeking a highly skilled Lead Planner to join our team of professionals working on major engineering projects worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Planning and Scheduling activities to ensure project success.
  • Prepare project schedules, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Load Resource/Budget Schedule, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Set up Baseline Schedule, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Update Schedule, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Extract Primavera data files and send to the cost controller, leading and providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Issue schedule for internal use, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Issue schedule for External use, leading and providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Monitor and control the progress of the work against the Schedule, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Prepare and update Resource requirements reports, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Report critical schedule issues, providing guidance and support to lower-level planners.
  • Identify and explain variances between current schedule, plan, earned values, and forecasts, and communicate to the Project Controls Manager, Project Manager.
  • Ensure proper progress measurement is in place for all projects and portfolios within the P&L through the whole project cycle.
  • Present updates to Lead/Manager/Project or P&L lead.
  • Advise on the areas of concern that could prevent meeting the P&L objectives.
  • Interface with other Project Control Team to maintain an integrated cost-schedule project control system.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have a University degree (B. Eng, BCom, etc).
  • 10+ years of relevant cost control experience, experience in engineering and construction projects environment.
  • Proficient in MS office suite of software, especially in Microsoft Excel.
  • Preferably thorough knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Ability to learn new software as per the company standards.
  • Expert Knowledge of project management techniques and a number of years of hands on experience (i.e., critical path method, progress measurement and earned value technique) and experience in Project planning, analyzing and reporting.
  • Strong organizational skills are required with attention to details.
  • Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of the general project controls policies and procedures.
  • Solid report writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well with Clients and Alliance partners.
  • Ability to work with staff, build and maintain good working relationships with Project Controls team.
  • Ability to mentor junior and intermediate staff and work with project cost controller.
