About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at Canada Life. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in the planning, control, and analysis of our expenses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Expense Analysis: Analyze data related to expenses within and allocated to our organization, providing insights to support decision making for staffing, expense pricing, and liability reserve.
  • Staffing Forecasting: Build and maintain a staffing forecast model for key operational areas, ensuring accurate projections and recommendations for hiring plans.
  • Expense Allocation: Maintain and update the expense allocation process by segment and product, periodically calibrating the process to expense studies.
  • Volume Tracking: Track and analyze work volume for key operational areas, conducting volume reprojection and providing recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Business Partnerships: Work closely with business areas to stay current with trends, developments, and operational changes that may impact staffing levels and productivity.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to senior leaders and business partners, using dashboards, graphs, charts, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Support ad-hoc expense analysis and provide recommendations for process improvements.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in business, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, and/or related work experience.
  • Professional Certifications: CPA, CFA, ASA an asset, but not a requirement.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, experience with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau) an asset.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to communicate with all levels and work within a team environment.
