About the Role

As a Cleaner with the BGIS SCS Team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in a designated zone. This involves sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, as well as emptying waste receptacles and transporting garbage to the appropriate bins or compactor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning tasks in a designated zone, with an emphasis on quality control and health and safety.
  • Operate floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, and materials.
  • Follow procedures for dilution of detergents and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Notify supervisors of any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, including cleaning appliances and running dishwashers.

Requirements:

  • Experience in performing cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively with staff, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as assigned, and to work in multiple locations.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and prepare and maintain manual and electronic records.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, and talking or hearing, as well as using hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
