Job Summary:

Schlegel Villages is seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join their team as a Resident Care Specialist. As a key member of the Village care team, the successful candidate will provide high-quality personal care to residents, work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and advocate for residents' individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide resident-centered care, prioritizing the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents.
  • Work collaboratively with the Medication-Certified PSWs and neighbourhood teams to understand residents' individual needs and advocate for residents to participate in decisions about their care.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Medication-Certified PSWs and neighbourhood teams.
  • Administer medication and treatments with a focus on accuracy, quality, and meeting residents' quality of life requests.
  • Follow plans of care (or service plans) in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses and identify and report any changes in residents' well-being to the Charge Nurse and Village leadership team.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Heart Save Level of CPR.
  • Excitement about Schlegel Villages' objectives, philosophy, and family values.
  • Caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members.
  • Understanding of the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the RPN role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MDS credentials.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, legislation, regulations, and best practices applicable to the retirement and long-term care sector.
