Job Summary

Emterra Group, a leading provider of waste management and recycling services, is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our team at our United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre in Coquitlam, BC.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to diagnose and repair facility equipment in a safe and timely manner. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing and completing all repairs safely and within company policy and manufacturer specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Maintaining proper maintenance reports and/or work orders.
  • Communicating regularly with managers regarding repair status and concerns.
  • Working as part of a team to support the daily needs of the operation.
  • Providing guidance and instruction to junior maintenance personnel.
  • Suggesting positive changes to processes or procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic License.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Experience in the waste industry or a similar industry is an asset, but not necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience with hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic proficiency with the use of computers.
  • Previous work experience in working with online preventative maintenance programs is an asset.
  • The ability to stand, lift, carry, bend, and twist for periods at a time, repeatedly.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
