Reinsurance Accounting Specialist

**About the Role**
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Reinsurance Accounting Specialist to join our innovative team at Intact Financial Corporation. As a key member of our dynamic reinsurance finance team, you will play a crucial role in building processes for complex reinsurance accounting activities, contributing to improve closing activities, and driving multiple process enhancements.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Perform analysis of complex reinsurance instructions, provide key recommendations in the preparation of complex reinsurance journal entries, and ensure the accuracy of financial results under your responsibility.
- Perform key reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of the reinsurance balance and perform reinsurance settlement with key reinsurers.
- Provide insight and recommendations to your leader about reinsurance results.
- Ensure to implement, perform, and improve all key controls to ensure high-quality results.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment in the month-end closing process.
**As a Member of the Project Team**
- Participate in financial systems and accounting processes improvement initiatives as a key lead, understanding multiple challenges and business needs, proposing solutions, implementing, and testing these solutions, and ensuring operational readiness for key stakeholders.
- Identify areas of improvement on various topics, document, and monitor progression on proposals.
- Ensure efficient and optimal use of our different reinsurance and reporting systems as the primary source of data for the production and analysis of reinsurance results.
- Manage your project portfolio and provide regular, timely, and pertinent updates to your manager to ensure group alignment on decisions and actions.
- Perform ad hoc and/or recurring reinsurance requests to support the reinsurance accounting team.
**Requirements**
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards, and/or finance.
- Experience in Insurance/Reinsurance accounting is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated experience in fast-learning environments requiring agility and adaptability to change.
- Discipline, autonomy, and professionalism.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
