About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health and Addictions Nurse to join our team at Home and Community Care Support Services. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with district school boards to develop and implement mental health and addiction strategies
  • Provide clinical services and support to students with mild to complex mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
  • Assist school boards in recognizing and responding to student mental health and addiction issues
  • Provide medication management and support for issues such as self-harm or treatment refusal
Requirements
  • Membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Working knowledge of community resources and roles of healthcare professionals
  • Knowledge of the healthcare delivery system and community resources
  • Knowledge of the mental health and addictions system for children and youth
  • Advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Established ability to accurately complete required documentation, reports, and forms
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in providing direct clinical mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth
  • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification in an area of specialty
  • Ability to speak French or another second language
