About the Role

As a key member of the IT Services team at Simon Fraser University, you will provide technical expertise and support for the university's audio-visual equipment and systems. This includes troubleshooting and maintaining audio-visual and computing systems in lecture theatres, classrooms, labs, and other areas on campus.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and maintenance for audio-visual equipment and systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software problems
  • Operate and set up audio-visual equipment, including videoconferencing, digital recording, and audio and video recording and playback systems
  • Use hand tools and power tools for electronics trade, including wood and metal work
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues to provide excellent customer service
  • Work flexible hours and shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Requirements
  • High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education in computing and/or audio-visual technology
  • Minimum two years of experience in a related field
  • Industry standard certification, such as CTS or Crestron DMC-E-4K
  • Ability to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 25 kg
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and crouch for extended periods of time
What We Offer

As a temporary employee of Simon Fraser University, you will receive a competitive hourly rate, plus an additional 14% pay in lieu of benefits. After four consecutive months in the position, pay in lieu of benefits will increase to 20%. You will also have the opportunity to participate in our hybrid-work program for eligible positions.
