What it's like to be a Northbridge Senior Actuarial Analyst, Corporate Actuary
Our Corporate Actuarial team is renowned for providing expert reserving and claims insights to other departments. Leveraging their strong technical actuarial knowledge, the team ensures that our reserves are adequate to protect our customers while also providing valuable insights for stakeholders to inform operational and strategic decisions.
As a key contributor, you will be tasked with painting a picture of the company's financial health by combining data and applying models to review loss reserves on a regular basis, perform financial condition testing, and report on financials, including the preparation of the annual Actuary report in close collaboration with our Chief Actuary.
Senior analysts on the team serve as coaches and influential contributors, collaborating with other actuaries and data scientists to develop new reserving methodologies and utilize cutting-edge tools to maintain Northbridge's position as a leader in the industry.
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience in compiling and analyzing data for loss reserve and loss adjustment expense reserve adequacy analysis
- Ability to develop and verify data sources for analysis to ensure data is sufficient, current, and accurate
- Collaborative skills to ensure proper communication of observed trends to key stakeholders
- Coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Research and development of new approaches to reserving and stress testing
- Knowledge of applicable statutes and precedents to prepare supporting materials for reports for submission to regulatory authorities
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Sciences or a Master's Degree in Mathematics
- P&C Reserving and Stress Testing (FCT/DCAT) Experience
- Passed at least 5 of the 9 CAS exams, or relevant experience
- Key Software expertise (SAS, Excel, VBA an asset)
