Job Description

The Facilities Director oversees the installation, repair, and upkeep of Langdon Hall's property, including machines, mechanical systems, buildings, and other structures. This role involves delegating tasks to subordinates, from painting and drywall repair to more complex activities like electrical, heating, and air-conditioning work. The Facilities Director is highly skilled and knowledgeable about a number of physical resources and how to fix or maintain them. They may be responsible for vehicles, electrical circuits, computer equipment, tables, chairs, and other furniture. This role requires the ability to forecast correctly and fulfill the need for new equipment when required. The Facilities Director is also responsible for maintaining certain health and safety regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Inspecting the facility to ensure it is in good working condition
  2. Checking electrical units to ensure they are functioning properly
  3. Hiring and managing a team of maintenance professionals
  4. Ordering parts and equipment as needed
  5. Recording daily maintenance activity to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  6. Delegating work responsibilities to team members to ensure efficient use of resources
  7. Hiring and training new and existing staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge
  8. Contacting service providers and contractors to arrange for repairs and maintenance
  9. Preparing work schedules to ensure that tasks are completed on time
  10. Performing essential and emergency repairs to maintain the facility's integrity
  11. Hands-on performance of the duties of the Maintenance Helper
  12. Performing other duties as required to support the smooth operation of the facility
Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct organizational and administrative duties
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to conduct multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of plumbing and carpentry
  • Experience with building and equipment maintenance
  • Proficiency with electrical and other tools
  • Understanding of computer applications
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Understanding of blueprint and estimating needs
  • Ability to be adaptable and self-driven
  • Experience with project management and prioritization
  • Ability to prepare work schedules
  • Recording and reporting skills
