Job Summary

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a skilled Boom Truck Operator to transport roofing and building envelope materials to construction sites. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 7am - 3:30pm, with a competitive hourly wage range of $27.50 - $38.50, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and drive a boom truck to transport materials safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections and report any maintenance needs.
  • Transport loads in a professional manner, adhering to traffic laws and representing the company with the highest standards.
  • Verify load security and accuracy.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the truck interior and exterior.
  • Deliver materials to customer satisfaction, prioritizing safety, service, and efficiency.
  • Operate the boom/mobile crane safely while loading and unloading.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and other trades on construction sites.
  • Deliver materials by hand, emphasizing a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with dispatch to resolve issues and adapt to changing delivery schedules.
  • Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Level A Crane Ticket is an asset, but training will be provided.
  • Minimum two years of experience is an asset.
  • Comfortable working at heights in a harness.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to read and speak English.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Physical requirements include:
  • Lifting and carrying up to 100lbs.
  • Sitting and driving for extended periods.
  • Frequent climbing up and down stairs.
  • Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer materials.
