We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability and Maintainability Expert to join our team at Hitachi Rail. As an Intermediate RAM Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and maintainability of our complex systems.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and Evaluate Hardware Designs: You will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating hardware designs to verify compliance with contractual Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) requirements.
- Identify RAM Problems and Suggest Design Alternatives: You will evaluate and identify RAM problems and suggest design alternatives to enhance the RAM of the subsystem or system.
- Develop RAM Program Plans: You will prepare Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Program Plans that define the RAM objectives and tasks to be performed, and deliverables to be produced at various phases of the project.
- Prepare RAM Demonstration Plans and Procedures: You will prepare RAM Demonstration Plans and Procedures to ensure successful demonstration of reliability, availability, and maintainability.
- Prepare RAM Reports: You will prepare RAM Reports as part of the RAM Demonstration program.
- Perform Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and/or Fault Tree Analysis (FTA): You will perform FMECA and/or FTA at subsystem and system level to identify all single failure points that are critical to operational success of the system.
- Perform Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability Apportionments: You will perform RAM apportionments to ensure hardware is being designed to meet contractual requirements.
- Perform RAM Predictions and Calculations: You will perform RAM predictions and calculations to verify compliance to customer requirements and to recommend RAM improvement strategy, if necessary.
- Perform Spare Analysis: You will perform Spare Analysis and identify recommended spare parts list to support the system maintenance during warranty period.
- Provide RAM Calculated Data: You will provide RAM calculated data to support Life Cycle Cost (LCC) analysis that will predict the total cost of utilizing the CBTC system through its entire life span.
- Perform MTBF Calculations: You will perform MTBF calculations based on field returns to support Quality Assurance (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) process) and participate in FRB meetings.
- Evaluate Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability of Designs: You will evaluate the Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability of designs and design changes for hardware by reviewing technical specifications, design & Engineering Change Control documentation.
- Assure RAM Requirements are Met: You will assure that RAM requirements are met by participating in hardware design reviews and meetings.
- Provide Evaluations and Recommendations: You will provide evaluations and recommendations with respect to Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability in formal design reviews and by raising Change Requests (CRs) against any RAM issues.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering: You must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Basic Knowledge in Electronic Components and Circuits: You must have a basic knowledge in Electronic components and circuits.
- Detailed Knowledge of System Requirements Definition/Design, RAM Principles, and Methodologies: You must have a detailed knowledge of system requirements definition/design, RAM principles, and methodologies.
- Minimum 3-5 Years Relevant Experience: You must have a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience in system architecture for complex systems, application of RAMS concepts & analyses techniques.
- Working Knowledge of RAM Methods and Techniques: You must have a working knowledge of RAM methods and techniques: FMECA, Reliability Modeling and Prediction, RAM & Testability Analyses.
- Experience with RAMS-Related Standards: You must have experience with RAMS-related standards EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, IEC61123, IEC61124, IEC60812, and IEC62278, MIL-HDBK-217/472/338B/781A, MIL-STD-1629A, IEEE 1474.1, and AREMA.
- Good Command of the English Language: You must have a good command of the English language, both written and oral.
- Computer Skills: You must have computer skills, MS Office; DOORS; ClearQuest, SAP.
- Member of Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) or Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE): You must be a member of Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) or Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE).
- Experienced with Reliability Software Tools: You must be experienced with any Reliability Software Tool (i.e., PTC Windchill).
- Working Knowledge of Rail Signaling Principles and Train Control Systems: You must have a working knowledge of Rail Signaling principles and Train Control Systems - Communication Based Train Control (CBTC).
