Unit Secretary

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Unit Secretary to join our dynamic team in the Telemetry Unit.
Job Summary:The Unit Secretary will provide administrative support to the clinical team, ensuring the smooth operation of the unit. This includes coordinating patient care, managing medical records, and communicating with healthcare professionals and patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Coordinate patient care, including scheduling appointments, tests, and procedures
- Manage medical records, including charting, transcription, and data entry
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and families
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including patient information, test results, and medication lists
- Assist with administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and photocopying
- Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure seamless patient care
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent
- Medical office assistant certificate or minimum one year comparable office experience with medical orientation
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and ability to perform medical transcription
- Experience inputting payroll, timesheets, and staff schedules
- Demonstrated commitment to patient/client-centered care
- Accurate minimum typing speed of 45 w.p.m.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience dealing with the public in a fast-paced and customer-service environment
- Experience on an inpatient unit preferred
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset
North York General Hospital offers a highly competitive total compensation package, including pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay, and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan. This is a part-time temporary position, 8 hour shifts, evenings including weekends in the Telemetry Unit.
As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital's Occupational Health and Safety department.
