Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Consultant to join our team at Dillon Consulting. As an Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role in supporting our environmental consulting services, including field activities, project coordination, and learning and development.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field activities in accordance with established health and safety protocols, including contaminated site assessments, sampling programs, and remediation projects.
  • Coordinate and complete designated hazardous substance surveys, including asbestos and lead sampling, and assist in air emissions testing programs.
  • Compile and analyze data, including data tables, borehole logs, and test pit logs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, presentations, and client liaison.
  • Assist in report writing and preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets, and figures.
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists, and others on multidisciplinary design teams.
Requirements
  • Degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or geology.
  • Entry-level position, but up to 2 years of experience in environmental consulting will be an asset.
  • Strong work ethic, genuine interest in environmental consulting, and field work.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and independently.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable with use and operation of a 4X4 truck in an off-road environment.
  • Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to work alone with guided direction or partial supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators.
  • Phased Environmental Site Assessment and remediation and/or hazardous building material surveys.
  • Soil and groundwater/surface water sampling.
  • Experience with groundwater monitoring, including conducting slug tests and using data loggers.
  • Knowledge in several of: geology, hydrogeology, environmental sampling procedures, environmental chemistry, site characterization, waste management, remediation, and health and safety.
  • Proficiency in ESdat, Surfer, gINT, or database abilities.
