Job Summary

BCIT's School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full-time welding instructor to teach in our welding programs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in welding and experience in teaching or training. The position involves instructing apprentice and entry-level students in multi-process procedures, preparing lesson plans, and maintaining equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct apprentice and entry-level students in multi-process procedures
  • Prepare lesson plans and classroom lectures
  • Maintain equipment and work collectively with the Department Head

Qualifications

  • IP Red seal journeyman welder with BC level ''A'' or out of province equivalent
  • Minimum five years at journeyman level
  • Must have pressure welding experiences and hold current pressure qualifications
  • Strong welding skills in various processes gained in heavy industry
  • Supervisory experience
  • Welding inspection certification is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate or be willing to advance knowledge and skills necessary to instruct curriculum
  • Demonstrate or be willing to train for computer skills that are necessary to instruct curriculum
  • Provincial Instructors Diploma or willingness to complete would be an asset
