About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Economist to join our team at the Bank of Canada. As an Economist, you will play a key role in analyzing and interpreting economic data to inform monetary policy decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Research: Conduct research on economic trends and developments to inform policy decisions.
  • Develop Models: Develop and apply economic models to analyze and explain economic behavior and patterns.
  • Forecast Economic Activity: Forecast production and consumption of products, income and expenditure, interest rates, and exchange rates.
  • Study Economic Theories: Study mathematical formulas and statistical techniques to analyze economic data.
  • Assess Policy Implications: Assess the appropriateness of the current stance of monetary and fiscal policy.
  • Develop Policy Recommendations: Develop monetary policies and forecasts of financial activity.
  • Examine Market Conditions: Examine statistical data on the exchange of goods and services among nations.
  • Forecast Resource Availability: Forecast production and consumption of renewable resources and supply, consumption, and depletion of non-renewable resources.
  • Conduct Market Analysis: Conduct research on market conditions in local, regional, or national areas.
  • Prepare Research Papers: Prepare research papers, educational texts, or articles on economic topics.
  • Deliver Presentations: Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, or symposia on economic topics.
Requirements
  • Education: Earned doctorate degree in economics or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience in economic research and analysis is an asset.
  • Language: Fluency in English or French is required.
  • Security Clearance: Basic security clearance is required.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel is required.
