Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a full-time teaching stream position in Turkish Language at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Arts & Science. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Modern Turkish in its cultural contexts at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Develop and deliver curriculum materials, including lectures and online content
  • Contribute to the Department's expanding program in Turkish Studies
  • Engage in teaching-related scholarly activities and pedagogical inquiry
Requirements
  • PhD in Linguistics, Modern Turkish Language and Literature, or a related field
  • Native or near-native speaker's competency in Turkish
  • Experience in language teaching pedagogy and a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices
  • Ability to introduce students to Ottoman Turkish is an asset
