Senior Boiler Plant Operator

Job Summary
Burgundy Diamond Mines is seeking a skilled Journeyperson Boiler Operator to join our team at the Ekati Diamond Mine. As a key member of our Electrical Services team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating boilers, piping systems, and equipment related to heating, ventilation, and pressure vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and perform corrective action and minor repairs to prevent equipment or system failure;
- Maintain a daily log of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, and write reports about plant operation;
- Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions;
- Perform maintenance tasks on multiple boiler plants;
- Perform routine maintenance on Mill Wide glycol heating and heat recovery systems;
- Perform routine maintenance on building heating and building ventilation systems (BMS / BAS);
- Maintain and repair boilers and oil-fired furnaces for stand-alone buildings on the mine site;
- Ensure compliance to company quality and safety standards as well as statutory requirements.
Requirements:
- Applicable trade qualification in relevant discipline (Journeyperson Certification);
- Minimum 4th Class Operating Engineer's Certificate;
- A second trade ticket in the oil burner field would be an asset;
- Familiarity and ability to monitor and adjust set points to Siemens and Johnson Controls building management systems;
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in an Institutional or Industrial setting;
- An overriding commitment to safety is a must;
- To round out the required skill-set, you will be computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office and SAP, as well as proficient with report writing;
- The incumbent will be expected to work a scheduled night shift on a consistent basis;
- Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred.
