Water Treatment and Wastewater Disposal Operator/Maintainer

Reporting to the Superintendent, Water and Sewer, the Water Treatment and Wastewater Disposal Operator/Maintainer is responsible for performing maintenance on and operating City assets, including the Water Treatment Plant, Pumphouses, Liftstations, boilers, and related equipment. The incumbent ensures safe and efficient operation of plant equipment and treatment processes, guaranteeing reliable production and supply of high-quality potable water in accordance with the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines and the Public Health Act.
The successful candidate will be required to hold or obtain a Class II Water Treatment Certification through the City, a valid Class 5 NWT Driver's License, and a minimum of an NWT Class 5 Operating Engineer's certificate. Additionally, the incumbent must hold a Forklift Operator Certification or be willing to obtain it through on-the-job training. A minimum of 3 years of related work experience in a similar environment is required.
