About the Role

As an Engineering Manager of our Site Reliability team, you'll lead a talented group of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) in ensuring the resilience of our products as they scale. The SRE team monitors production, owns incident management, and promotes operational principles that drive business success. Product engineering teams collaborate closely with SREs to deliver quality features and releases.

You'll work collaboratively with your team and other engineering functions to design and implement valuable features that drive business outcomes. Your leadership skills will inspire and cultivate a strong team identity, promoting individualized mentoring, accountability, and operational excellence. You'll play a key role in evolving the remit of SRE to meet the needs of engineering as Sentry grows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grow and develop a team of talented SREs
  • Set direction for the team, anticipating strategic and scaling-related challenges
  • Participate in quarterly planning sessions to set achievable milestones
  • Communicate deliverable outcomes to engineering, product, and design
  • Contribute to Sentry's cloud strategy
  • Foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies our values
  • Be part of the escalation path for our on-call process, potentially taking on-call responsibilities when needed
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering
  • Ideal 2+ years of people management experience
  • Experience working with distributed systems in Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience with tools that manage systems including Terraform, Kubernetes, Salt, and Envoy
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills
  • Bonus points for experience working with globally distributed teams
  • Lived in the Toronto, Canada area or willing to relocate
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $189,000 to $214,000, based on location, education, experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. A successful candidate will be eligible for incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
