Reporting to the Director, Climate & Environment, this role provides leadership and direction to support corporate climate and energy management frameworks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic guidance on corporate climate and energy management frameworks, including ongoing community outreach and expertise to the public, business, industry, and development community.
  • Managing budgets, analyzing grant funding opportunities, and monitoring operations to ensure service levels meet established parameters.
  • Preparing and coordinating internal and external communications, including reports, policy documentation, and presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Liaising with advisory groups, industry organizations, and senior government agencies to advance sustainability initiatives.
  • Acting as technical lead for climate and energy management initiatives and major infrastructure projects.
  • Developing and implementing public and private policies, such as energy efficiency bylaws and EV infrastructure planning.
  • Establishing criteria and performance metrics for problem-solving, decision-making, and reporting to ensure effective policies and programs.
  • Representing the City's climate action interests in regional and provincial forums.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current practices in corporate and community energy management, planning, and development.
  • Experience in project management, strategic planning, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with local, regional, and international agencies supporting sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A graduate degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field, with at least 10 years of experience in energy and policy development.
