About the Role:

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our dynamic professional engineering and consulting practice.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract law and experience in managing a team of contract reviewers. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing our company's contracting strategy, reviewing and negotiating contractual relationships, developing and managing internal standard form contracts, and providing contract and risk allocation support to project teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract Management: Work with our General Counsel and the legal department to refine, improve, implement, and manage our company's contract management program and long-term strategy of contracting process.
  • Team Management: Oversee, manage, and mentor Geosyntec's team of professional contract reviewers.
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Industry Trends and Compliance: Stay abreast of industry trends, contracting requirements, and case law.
  • Project Agreements: Review and negotiate project-related agreements.
  • Contract Compliance: Provide guidance to staff regarding subcontractor compliance with subcontract requirements.
  • Contract Awareness and Training: Increase awareness regarding contract-related issues and risks; develop training programs as needed.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Assist with and maintain the company's contract lifecycle management system.
  • Technology Solutions: Identify and onboard technology solutions to improve the department's performance and efficiency.
  • Client and Project Support: Provide high-quality, positive, and responsive contract-related services to both internal and external clients.
  • Risk Management: Provide guidance and support to Project or Client Managers on contract or risk management-related issues.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Respond to requests for assistance and guidance from Project and Client Managers. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as needed.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (required)
  • Licensure: Juris Doctor (required)
  • License to Practice Law: License to practice law (required)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience: At least 10 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house department with contract law experience.
  • Team Management: Some experience building a team, recruiting, supervising, and mentoring others.
  • Policies and Procedures: Responsibility for the strategic adoption and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • US Federal Procurement: Familiarity with US Federal procurement requirements and consultant insurance program experience.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and PowerPoint, and working knowledge of Excel.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to efficiently manage individual workload and conflicting priorities, effectively present information, and respond to questions from various stakeholders.
