About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Municipal Engineer to join our Power Division team in Mississauga, Ontario (hybrid). The successful candidate will contribute to the successful completion of projects in transmission and distribution, as well as the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
This role will involve reviewing and authenticating designs related to site preparation, stormwater management, grading, access roads, and fencing for power industry projects. You will also be required to liaise with project stakeholders, including discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors, and clients, ensuring smooth information flow. Additionally, you will apply knowledge of North American and international codes, regulations, and industry standards. Your technical leadership skills will enable you to provide expert input on municipal sewer and industrial design, including site development, grading and drainage design, site utilities and tie-ins, erosion control, and road design. You will also be responsible for monitoring project schedules and budgets, providing regular status updates. Furthermore, you will attend project meetings and contribute technical insights.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in municipal engineering, preferably in transmission lines, high-voltage substations, industrial, power generation, hydro, or utility projects. They will also have extensive experience in site preparation, drainage, grading, and access roads. Strong knowledge of civil design standards in North America is essential. Excellent communication, report writing, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are also required. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. or Canada are mandatory. Experience with Civil 3D, XP Storm, WaterCad, AutoTurn, and AutoDesk AVT is an asset. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team is crucial. Business development and structural design experience are assets. Finally, strong attention to detail and accuracy are necessary for this role.
