About This Opportunity

Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHCC) is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician to join their team. The centre offers 24/7 access to emergency services in a newly renovated and expanded Level 2 department. CRHCC provides a wide range of primary and secondary services through inpatient, outpatient, and community-based programs.

  • 24 hour on site physician support services:
    • Internal Medicine/ICU
    • General surgery
    • Obstetrics and Gynecology
    • Neonatal care
    • Diagnostic Imagining
    • Anesthesiology
Responsibilities

The selected candidate will provide leadership in the resuscitation and stabilization of major trauma patients and critically ill patients. They will also assess and manage the full spectrum of emergency medicine presentations from injury to unexpected and undifferentiated medical and surgical illness in all ages, including mental health emergencies.

Expected Hours

This position involves rotational shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Full-time hours are defined as 100% per annum, with part-time work available for those who also want to participate in the hospitalist program or family medicine practices. Current shifts are 4 hours or 8 hours in length, with coverage per day and the option to combine shifts as desired.

Qualifications

To be eligible, applicants must have a valid license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). Family physicians must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), while specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC). Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is also required. Additionally, the applicant must have current Certification and meet specific training requirements, including ACLS/ATLS/PALS and Advanced Airway certifications for non-specialists.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is between $250,000 to $350,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including extended health and dental coverage, life insurance, and paid time off.
