Position Overview

As a Pharmacy Intern at Giant Eagle, you will play a vital role in supporting the pharmacy team while gaining valuable experience in the pharmaceutical field. This position is ideal for individuals currently enrolled in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program.

Experience Requirements

  • 0 to 6 months of relevant experience preferred.

Educational Qualifications

Licensing Requirements

  • Active in-state Pharmacy Intern License is mandatory.

Physical Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal inventory levels by placing online orders, adjusting order points, and assisting in physical inventory preparations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to comply with company and regulatory standards.
  • Process written prescriptions on a daily basis.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Analyze service and business metrics to support improvement initiatives.
  • Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician as required.
  • Greet and assist patients with warmth and professionalism at all pharmacy entry points.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care by addressing needs, processing orders, and directing inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Handle sales transactions accurately using the cash register, adhering to established procedures.
  • Support the safe and efficient dispensing of medications and medical equipment by following quality assurance protocols.
  • Adhere to all Giant Eagle and pharmacy policies, including HIPAA regulations.
  • Input patient personal and insurance information accurately.
  • Document all prescription details, including calculations and medication specifications.
  • Ensure proper documentation for insurance communication and billing processes.
  • Notify pharmacists for drug utilization reviews and assist with third-party claim resolutions.
  • Process medical expense reports as needed.
  • Contribute to the execution of company initiatives and programs.
