Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Clinical Instructor to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our Diagnostic Imaging department, you will be responsible for teaching, monitoring, and evaluating the clinical skills of Ultrasound students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor Ultrasound students in a clinical setting, ensuring they develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their careers.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to help them improve.
  • Assist in the scheduling of student clinical rotations, ensuring they gain practical scanning experience and exposure to various ultrasound modalities.
  • Provide written and oral progress reports to students, faculty, and other stakeholders.
  • Function as a general duty sonographer when not scheduled with students, maintaining existing scanning skills and learning new techniques.
Requirements
  • 5 years of professional experience in a healthcare setting, with a focus on General Ultrasound and Echocardiography.
  • Experience in teaching and/or a certificate in education is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Radiology Information Systems and Picture Archiving Systems.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Radiography, Nursing, Nuclear Medicine, or a related technical field.
  • Diagnostic Ultrasound Training Certificate.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or (RDSC) certification.
  • Active membership with the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, and Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic Current Life Support Instructor course.
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional development.
  • Competency in Windows-based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated leadership and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize in a changing environment and display independent judgment.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population and maintain confidentiality.
