Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our New Product Development (NPD) Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the completion of engineering design tasks and projects from concept to implementation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute and complete mechanical engineering design tasks and project assignments in support of prototyping/testing & product development activities per NPD product development processes.
  • Coordinate own tasks to ensure deadlines are met per project schedule and applicable lead times.
  • Creation of engineering designs that meet customer specifications, technical summaries, other contract documents and any applicable standards or industry best practices.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Complete controlled testing of components and system to meet contractual obligations, vendor requirements (SAA), ensure product reliability, performance and verify component fit.
  • Complete engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures.
  • Provide engineering support to production, Quality Assurance, customer service support and other departments as directed by NPD Management.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist.
  • 5-10 years design experience and demonstrate ability to achieve performance objectives and targets.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high demanding fast paced work environment.
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team orientated environment.
