Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Accounting Specialist to join our team at CP.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze project proposals to determine appropriate accounting treatments, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement.
  • Post journal entries for all business transactions, maintaining accurate financial records and facilitating timely financial statements.
  • Conduct account analysis and reconcile discrepancies in Balance Sheet accounts, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains.
  • Establish and maintain financial data generation processes that meet internal control requirements (SOX), ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
  • Collaborate with the accounting policy team to address complex accounting concerns and provide expert advice on financial matters.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, streamlining financial operations and enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with auditors and internal reviewers, providing clear explanations and supporting documentation as needed.
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • A recognized accounting designation (CFA, CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or equivalent professional certification.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years' experience in related financial roles, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to create complex spreadsheets and models.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to apply theoretical principles in practical contexts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.
