Job Description

This role involves coding and abstracting health records according to CIHI standards and ICD-10 CA/CCI guidelines.

You will be responsible for ensuring data submission and distribution to internal and external customers, collaborating with other teams to enhance decision-making and accurate funding.

In addition, you will participate in projects to improve data quality and practice continuous learning to expand your expertise as a health information management professional.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A graduate degree in health record information management
  • Active membership in CHIMA
  • A minimum of five years experience in DAD and NACRS coding using ICD-10/CCI and current knowledge of CIHI coding standards
  • Computerized abstracting experience, preferably with WINRECS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CIHI coding queries, Meditech, and eHIM
  • An understanding and knowledge of CMG (Complexity)
  • Excellent organizational, data interpretation, and communication skills
  • Ability to apply data quality practices and standards to coding and abstracting functions
