Energy Sector Expansion Specialist

Rystad Energy is a leading energy research and consulting firm with a global presence. We are seeking an experienced professional to expand our footprint in the oil and gas industry by generating new relationships with upstream operators and service companies in Canada.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional new business generation skills, experience in solution selling, and a strong understanding of the global upstream sector. They will be responsible for building a pipeline of new companies to target, designing and implementing an outreach program, and presenting the company's research and services to potential clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building a pipeline of new companies to target
  • Designing and implementing an outreach program in connection with our Marketing team
  • Presenting the company, our research and services in person and web conference
  • Understanding the core needs of each client type and building an effective value proposition
  • Networking at industry events to expand our brand
  • Managing interactions through the company's CRM system
  • Communicating internally with research, sales colleagues and management on actives and results
  • Providing feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas
  • Ensuring new clients are on-boarded properly
  • Managing the right activities to deliver on an annual sales target

Requirements include:

  • 3-7 years of new client acquisition in the energy industry, market intelligence or adjacent industries
  • A graduate degree, post graduate desirable
  • Negotiating with procurement and/or senior management
  • Selling research databases or consulting services is preferred
  • Experience in selling subscription services is highly desirable
  • Pipeline management best practices and new business generation skills
  • Experience with energy-focused data and software sales related to energy supply analysis, modelling, screening and valuations
  • Goal oriented self-starter that can work independently, as part of a team and pull in resources as required
  • Building value propositions for our databases based upon specific personas and company types
  • A strong existing network and the ability to quickly and effectively build new networks
  • Using standard Office tools and CRM systems
  • Sales pipeline management and robust forecasting
