Job Summary

The Cancer Genome Interpretation (CGI) manager oversees a team of bioinformaticians, research/scientific associates, and software developers in the development and reporting of clinical genomics reports. This role involves overseeing the research and development of bioinformatics pipelines to keep up to date with current best practices in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and support the open-source laboratory information management system MISO LIMS and associated applications
  • Automate and streamline data analysis, tracking, and workflow management using workflow systems like Cromwell
  • Archive data for long-term storage and release data to collaborators and public archives
  • Maintain a suite of specialized reports for quality control, forecasting, and lab operations
  • Perform project-specific analysis for collaborators, including alignment, de novo assembly, variant detection, quantification of tumour heterogeneity and purity, RNAseq analysis, variant significance prediction, and structural variant calling
  • Analyze and interpret genomic data using accredited pipelines and processes and draft reports for clinical cases
  • Manage and coordinate a team of cancer genome interpreters to generate clinical genome reports incorporating genome, transcriptome, cell-free, and other emerging genomic data types
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced bioinformatician with a Master's degree in a scientific discipline, preferably in bioinformatics, oncology, genetics, molecular biology, or recognized equivalent. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on technical expertise and excellent analytical abilities, with acute attention to detail and rigor required for developing clinical testing applications.
