Job Title: Laboratory Assistant - Specimen Processing

About the Role:

Dynacare is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will be responsible for processing laboratory specimens, entering requisitions and results accurately and in a timely manner, and ensuring quality control checks and standards are run as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow established protocols in Specimen Processing
  • Ensure all samples are properly identified, data entered, and labeled
  • Follow established protocols for the handling of unsuitable samples
  • Handle client inquiries and problems in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Completion of secondary-school level education and a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program
  • Experience providing exceptional customer-focused service in a demanding and frequently changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage, prioritize, and collaborate in a team-oriented, high-volume, time-sensitive environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) at an intermediate level
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and ability to apply that knowledge in troubleshooting issues and providing recommendations for solutions

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment
  • Medical laboratory environment
  • Required walking with repetitive motions
  • May sit or stand for prolonged periods with extensive computer use
  • Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required
  • Exposed to biohazardous substances, temperature differences, and noise variances
