Transportation Field Inspector II

Morrison Hershfield, a leading infrastructure consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Field Inspector II to join our team. As a key member of our Horizontal Infrastructure Business Unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect contractor's work to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and approved changes.
- Assist with site investigations and coordinate with the project delivery team to resolve issues.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and document progress, including photos and quantities.
- Monitor project progress and document any deviations from the approved schedule.
- Field verify and document installed quantities and assist with final quantity reconciliation.
- Inspect temporary silt fencing and other erosion and storm water control measures to ensure compliance with the contractor's storm water pollution protection plan.
- Attend and assist with progress and coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with testing labs, project team, and contractor to ensure required tests and inspections are performed.
- Witness field and/or factory tests and document results on furnished reports.
- Assist with reviewing pay applications and coordinating contractor's work to minimize impacts to the project team, public, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with testing, startup, and commissioning of new systems.
- Assist in project close-out process.
- Assist project team and engineer with evaluating contractor claims.
- Proactively review contract drawings, specifications, site conditions, and contractor's work progress to identify potential problems and assist the project team with developing solutions.
- Assist project team with evaluating constructability issues.
- A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in general heavy civil construction.
- Previous engineering/construction experience is an asset.
- Prior experience working on provincial transportation large, capital improvement, public works projects.
- Proficiency with reading, understanding, and correlating plans and specifications.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training or as a Technician or Technologist.
- Able to work on weekends and nights, as required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, database entry.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
