Aecon is a Canadian leader in infrastructure development, and we're building a legacy that matters. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you'll play a vital role in designing and implementing electrical systems that ensure the safe and efficient operation of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and terminate electrical cables and equipment
  • Locate and install control components and devices
  • Fabricate control panels and wiring check-out
  • Layout and plan electrical installations, ensuring compliance with regulations and trade practices
  • Install, alter, repair, and maintain a wide range of electrical equipment
  • Pull wire through conduits and cables
  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications
  • Splice, join, and connect wire to fixtures and components
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems

Requirements:

  • Certified Journeyperson Ticket or Indentured in Apprenticeship Program
  • 2-3 years' experience in high voltage, lockout tagout, and circuit isolation
  • 2-3 years' experience in industrial or maintenance projects
  • 2-3 years' experience reading and interpreting electronic schematics, drawings, and aligning to provincial standards
  • 2-3 years' experience working with high voltage power equipment
  • 2-3 years' experience commissioning and decommissioning electrical systems
  • Mechanical ability, strength, and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work at various heights
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods
  • Ability to solve math problems quickly and accurately
  • Ability to get along well with others on a work team

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $45.33 - $50.00 hourly rate
  • Shift rotation to change per project requirements
  • 10 hours per day – hours flexible to change
  • Overtime is given at the rate of 1.5 times the employee straight time hourly rate after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week
  • 6% vacation and 4% statutory holiday pay

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Primary work location at site in Edmonton/Sherwood Park/Fort Saskatchewan (and surrounding areas)

  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Continuously changing work tasks
  • Ability to work a significant amount of hours throughout the day
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
