Job Purpose

The Wheel Hub Engineer will play a critical role in the design and development of wheel hub bearings, working closely with the Engineering team to establish test and design standards. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and experience in automotive hub bearings design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Innovation & Technology
    • Lead R&D projects focused on new technologies and concepts for wheel hub bearings
    • Perform competitor benchmarking
  • Product Management
    • Assist with manufacturer onboarding and quality management
    • Perform NPI to expand product lines
    • Write and maintain technical documentation, including customer assembly drawings, manufacturing details, and new product specifications
    • Maintain manufacturing drawing/print database, including creating, filing, obsoleting, retrieving, and tracking changes
    • Work with peers on validating completed specification & conceptual drawings before submitting to contract manufacturers
    • Resolve supplier concerns
  • Product Quality
    • Perform root cause analysis on product quality issues
    • Create and implement action plans, lessons learned
    • Re-evaluate products and identify opportunities for improvement
    • Review and complete testing data to quantify improvements made to various designs
  • Standards
    • Create, improve, and maintain design standards used for product lines
    • Organize and standardize documents used for internal and external communication
  • Training Team Development
    • On-board and train new team members
    • Guide and develop interns' technical abilities
    • Review identified errors and guide team
    • Document and upgrade current engineering specifications and standards
    • Contribute to Mevotech engineering standards and process improvement initiatives
    • Collaborate with peers on research projects, providing guidance and support

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive hub bearings design
  • 3+ years of working with overseas manufacturers
  • Proven experience working with AutoCAD Inventor
  • Proven experience with APQP
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately in a fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Previous experience with Product Life Management Software would be an asset
