Job Title: Graduate Academic Assistant

Job Summary:

The University of British Columbia is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Academic Assistant to support a research project investigating the development of violent individuals. The successful candidate will work closely with the research team to conduct literature searches, analyze data, and prepare research reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct complex literature searches and analyze findings to determine themes and linkages among variables
  • Work with the research team to identify research variables within select datasets and conduct data analysis
  • Prepare and present research findings for review by team members
  • Assist in writing research reports and articles for publication
  • Participate in regular team meetings and collaborate with the team leader and other research assistants

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in social work, psychology, or related social science
  • Current enrollment in the MSW program at UBCO
  • Strong reading, comprehension, and writing skills
  • Ability to work on a collaborative, interdisciplinary team
  • Willingness to remain with the project until October or November 2024

About the Project:

The research project aims to create a multidimensional description of individuals who intentionally engage in physical assaults. The study seeks to form a synchronized source of information that details the many dimensions of violent individuals.

Working with the Research Team:

The successful candidate will work directly with Dr. Edward Taylor and communicate with government and not-for-profit agencies. The Graduate Academic Assistant will attend regular meetings with the research team and participate in writing articles for publication.
