First Nations Community Claims Administrator
Indigenous - Remote - Full Time
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Claims Administrator to join our team at Spirit Employment & Training Edmonton Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with Indigenous people across Canada, specifically with First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan's Principle class action.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide empathetic support to individuals throughout the claim form process.
- Develop and maintain relationships with claimants to ensure effective communication and trust.
- Assist claimants in completing claim forms, accessing support resources, and navigating the appeals process.
- Educate individuals on the claims process, settlement benchmarks, and available resources.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance claims support skills and adapt to changes as required.
- Minimum of three years relevant experience in a similar role.
- Social Work Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to establish trust and communication with individuals dealing with intergenerational trauma.
- Proficiency in technology and online platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel across Canada and provide virtual support to claimants.
- Familiarity with Indigenous regional governance structures and colonial policies.
- Understanding of Indigenous culture, history, and trauma impacts.
- Knowledge of the effects of colonial policies on Indigenous communities.
- Fluency in Indigenous Language is an asset.
- Working on First Nations land may provide tax exemptions.
- Reliable vehicle for travel.
