About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As an Instructional Designer, you will play a key role in creating engaging and effective online learning experiences for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create comprehensive plans and blueprints for the delivery of online training, ensuring seamless integration with our learning management system.
- Develop high-quality online learning materials, including student and instructor resources, that meet the highest standards of accessibility and usability.
- Design and develop interactive online courses that incorporate multimedia authoring tools, streaming media, and other relevant technologies.
- Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to define instructional strategies and philosophies that align with our institution's goals and objectives.
- Analyze existing instructional materials to identify areas for improvement and recommend design modifications using new technologies.
- Integrate technology with instruction to create immersive online learning environments that promote student engagement and success.
- Facilitate the adaptation of course materials for web-based delivery, ensuring consistency and quality across all platforms.
- Conduct education/training analyses, develop assessment and evaluation strategies, and tools to measure student learning outcomes.
- Contribute to the evaluation of emerging Web technologies and tools, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
- Work collaboratively with Learning Technologies staff and distributed teams to develop and promote a variety of support services that enhance the student learning experience.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- A graduate degree in instructional design, educational technologies, web/media development, computer information systems, or an equivalent combination of relevant post-secondary education, recent training, and experience.
- Two years of practical experience in instructional design and/or online course development, including building learning materials and learner experiences that meet relevant provincial, federal, and international standards.
- Experience with planning and completing the development of fully online and blended courses, providing instructional design support to faculty and programs.
- Experience using web-based authoring tools and other relevant multimedia tools to create interactive online courses.
- Demonstrated ability in developing online/multimedia courses and the application of effective instructional design principles.
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of learning management systems, educational technologies, and implementation strategies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an academic environment, demonstrating a high degree of self-direction, initiative, and motivation.
- Superior interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
- Demonstrates valuing diversity.
