About the RoleYou'll be part of the R&D High-Density Fluid Engineering team, working on creating the first-ever HD Hydro systems, including fluid design, production processes, and maintenance systems. Your contributions will be instrumental in implementing solutions for our various full-scale demonstration projects. Throughout this process, you'll be expected to contribute across all stages, from executing bench scale testing, building out the lab, piloting facilities, full-scale production, and company processes. You'll have the opportunity to source components, solutions, and services as part of the overall development process. As an R&D engineer working on real hardware, you'll relish being able to get your hands dirty and work across multiple disciplines.
This full-time position is based at RheEnergise's HD Hydro Technology Centre in Montréal and reports directly to the CTO. Work arrangements include both in-office and remote settings (as circumstances permit) with occasional on-site visits when demonstrators or pilot projects are being built.
Key Requirements- A creative problem-solver with a 'get it done' attitude, attention to detail, and pride in work
- Passionate about climate change and finding innovative solutions
- Experience working in startups, thriving in chaotic environments, valuing autonomy, and accountability
- Self-motivated, independent when needed, but also capable of building a team
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- Experience in the hydro or renewables industry is an asset; experience with Oil & Gas drilling fluids is also beneficial
- An engineer or scientist with relevant experience bridging formulation design and process scaling
- Comfortable working across disciplines: formulation chemistry, fluid mechanics, mechanical systems, test & instrumentation, control systems, process optimization, material handling
- Strong background in experimental work and testing, bolstered by analytical skills and familiarity with tools like Matlab and LabVIEW
- A knack for systems design, with the ability to see both the big picture and small details
