Community Disaster Awareness Specialist

Strathcona Regional District is seeking a Community Disaster Awareness Assistant to develop and present public education materials that teach people how to better prepare themselves for hazards that may affect their communities. The goal is to reduce risks to a community from natural hazards and climate-related risks through modifications in human actions by increasing awareness and education. This position works with other local governments, emergency response agencies, First Nations and the public across the region on public education. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in emergency management, education, public health or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Direct experience working with emergency response agencies or delivering public education programs is also required. The position is 35 hours per week with an hourly pay rate of $36.47 to $41.86 plus an additional 16% in lieu of benefits and vacation.
